This weekend's challenge on the Circle message board is to follow this sketch. Cards or layouts, doesn't matter. Since I'm still in a Halloween mood but don't have any pictures to scrap yet, I chose a loose interpretation of the sketch to come up with the following card.
The papers for the card are from the Recollections Haunted Manor and DCWV Timeless Textures stacks. The moon was cut once from cream Bazzill cardstock and once from a silver card blank at 3" from Celebrate with Flourish and layered. The witch was also cut at 3" from A Child's Year. I wrapped the broom in orange baker's twine and pop dotted her off the card. I curled and inked the border banner edges for a little extra dimension. Now I just have to decide who to send it to. Thanks for stopping by!

~A simple Thank You card
I spotted this card in an issue of Paper Creations magazine and the simplicity of it just jumped out at me. I think it was a Birthday card in the magazine, but I needed a Thank You card, so I adapted it. I cut the sun on white paper at 2.25" from Celebrate with Flourish. The circles were cut at 1". All the banners were hand cut from coordinating patterns and the card front was then stitched before being adhered to kraft cardstock. I had lots of fun coloring and hand doodling the sun and hope to incorporate more embellishments like this on my cards. Thanks for stopping by!

Mixed Media - A new addiction???
After weeks of seeing some beautiful artwork by my Circle sister Barbara, I decided to try my hand at a mixed media project. I picked a simple tag, 3 1/4 x 5". I used plain creme cardstock. Ranger ink distress colors were stormy sky, crushed olive, victorian velvet and a little wild honey.
I first cut the birds from Celebrate with Flourish at 1.94 x 3. Save the negative mask. Temporarily adhere the bird on the tag wherever you want it.
Working with one color at a time, lightest to darkest, I rubbed the ink using a circular motion onto the cardstock in a random pattern using blending foam. Remove the birds and mist the tag with water. Set it with the heat tool. Put the bird back on the tag in the original position and stamp the tag with your choice of stamp(s)/ink colors. I used a Tim Holtz clock. Let dry. Remove the bird and place the negative mask over the spot and using a contrasting ink, stamp the negative space. Set an eyelet (I coated a gold colored one with alcohol ink) and fnish with ribbon or twine of your choice.
I printed the words on the same type of creme cardstock using Courier New font. I cut them out and inked with the wild honey ink and adhered to the cards.
This tag took me much less time than making a card and I've got tons of ideas in my head. I think I'm going to have to get some more stamps though!
